I'm not so sure about his combination myself.

I think that THC will give you a high but I don't consider it an antidepressant.
I think there are other compounds (ie anandamides) in cannabis that are responsable for its mood stabalizing effect.

I think that treating bipolar disorder is a heck of a lot more complicated that combining an upper with a downer.

It may be of some use, but probably not as monotherapy.

A little while ago, here in Australia, there was a 4 Courners program, a little alarmist perhaps, on cannabis use. One of those interviewed had been a very heavy user from his teens. Anyway when he *stopped* using cannabis he went manic. Which got me thinking about states in which cannabis seems to have a beneficial effect....the main one being the latter part of an amphetamine effect. The forward push and overly clear compulsive thinking is broken up by cannabis. And some people whose thinking is like this self-medicate with cannabis.

Unlike many who blissfully zone out on weed, I feel tight, muscle cramps and start motor mouthing, end up cleaning or dancing til I'm the last one on the dance floor. Sometimes its expansive and lovely, but I stopped because of the negative paranoid and revved-up effects I get from it. My husband, otoh, goes into bliss city as well as getting red-eyed and stupid.
