I tried Mirapex for a week and a half. Right when I started to feel really good on it...I freaked out because of the "sleep attacks". I never got one, but realized I couldn't live in fear everyday of getting one while driving, etc. (Provigil not an option for me) The thoughts were giving me panic attacks. So I stopped. Good luck!!!

Did you have any nasty side effects from it at all? I was reading the side effect profile and it scared me. Because Mirapex is something I haven't tried ....

Maxime,

If I'm not mistaken, Mirapex is something that will lower prolactin levels. You could take in in conjunction with desipramine.

Maxime-

The "nasty" side effects were: EXTREME drowsiness and fatigue after each dose that lasted about 3 hours and then when that wore off I felt REALLY good. BUT then it was time for another dose. People may want to cut down how many times they tell you to take it. The WORST side effect is the "sleep attacks". I never got one, but was only on it about 2 weeks. This is what prompted me to stop taking it. I was always freaking out that I would just suddenly fall asleep without any warning. The more I researched the drug, the more I found out it just wasn't worth it. Although Mirapex causes drowsiness and fatigue, it also causes insomnia. AGHHHHHHHH!

I am not trying to detour you from taking it...but simply that there are some things you have to consider. It could be a miracle drug for someone needs some happiness (me) but they must have a designated driver.

Sigh. I already have extreme fatigue. Although who knows how my body might react to it. I guess I could provigil with it. I don't know. Sigh. It's so frustrating.

Thanks.

I wonder how much it lowers it? Maybe the psychopharmacologist I see on Monday will have some ideas ... but I am not hopeful.

Thanks Z.

I did not recieve any benefit from Mirapex aside from some relief from the sexual sides of the Lexapro I was taking along with it. Additionally I did not have any negative side effects to speak of. I have never heard of this spontaneous sleep side effect. I'm still looking for the right med. Now I'm on Effexor and Provigil (6 weeks). Nothing impressive yet. I would describe myself as treatment resistant atypical depression. Anxiety is not much an issue anymore but it had been in the past. Right now I have no motivation, anhedonia, and cognitive slowing. Hope this helps and best of luck.
