Lunesta - Trials for Depression?

Posted by awatts on April 2, 2005, at 13:29:48

I read somewhere that Lunesta was undergoing clinical trials for use as an antidepressant. I can't remember where I read this.

Anybody out there know of such trials? Nothing has worked for my depression.

Also, anybody know of a website that lists all AD trials that I might be able to join?

I heard that Lunesta was supposed to help depression too. Is it out yet? Fondly, Phillipa

yes there is a specific metabolite of zopiclone that has some reported antidepressant effects.

there is a larage site listing this stuff. i forgot it but someone here knows it. .

its like neuro psyc or something.

but yeah. its a metabolite of the full molecule, zopiclone.

Lunesta is "eszopiclone"

there are several variations of this molecule..!

Lunesta, have you tried it? Are you planning to? I totally forgot to ask my pdoc about it when I saw her about a week ago. I guess I was so improved with the valium that it wasn't foremost in my mind. But if it has antidepressant actions, and I don't tolerate the Ad's in anything but a subtheraputic dose, it would definitely be worth trying. I've always said that my depression results from anxiety, and not through the night sleep. Please let me know if you've tried it and if you're on AD's Thanks Phillipa

I see my pdoc on Friday and am going to ask for Lunesta. I've tried most of the ADs over the years, but am not on one now. What's the point if nothing works for me. I take Klonopin for anxiety and Xanax only when I have a panic attack.

I can usually get to sleep, but almost never stay asleep for more than 2 hours at a time. It's a pain waking up 3 or 4 times EVERY night, and I think poor sleep could be making my depression worse - who knows.

I turned in my prescription today for Lunesta. I'm so excited to see how I sleep tonight!

Is this the site on its antidepressant effects?

Thanks - that's one that I had not found. I posted another site in a new message in this group. I probably should not have done that. Dr. Bob doesn't give us rules about starting multible topics on the the same subject. <grin>

Please continue to keep us informed about your experience with Lunesta. I am interested about it's possible antidepressant properties.
