Posted by jerrympls on March 30, 2005, at 20:52:05

First they said Jan 2005, then Feb 2005 then March 2005 then END of March 2005 now their site says:

"Please note that this product is not yet commercially available. Sepracor expects to commerically introduce Lunesta brand eszopiclone immediately upon formal classification of Lunesta as a Schedule IV controlled substance. "

Great - how long is that gonna take???? Geesh.

I think it was already known that it would be C-IV like Ambien. I was told by my pharmacy about April 15 they would stock it, but who knows.

Hi. I have been wildly looking for the release of Lunesta for sometime now and know others are getting stir crazy too! Just waiting for its release.

I have a Rx for 3mgs HS. The first release dates here in the U.S. said it was approved, finally, in December 2004 (I think the same time as Cymbalta). Then they said January, then February and then for sure at the end of March! I went ahead and emailed Sepracor (Lunesta.com) directly at their marketing email address, asking them what was going on? And they never got back to me.... the same with the U.S. FDA. They never got back me either (no surprise)!

Finally, I have read, that after it is ''formally'' scheduled with the FDA, it will be released to pharmacies. This Should happen around April 4 or 5th and then it will be released a few days after that. It was said to expect arrival at most Pharmacies by Aril 15th!!!!!!! Now that's not a few days after its approval, is it? They already knew it was going to be schedule IV. This is old news. It just shows all the red-tape that goes on here with medications.

The other issue is that Sepracor, the maker of Lunesta, is that it is supposedly a new, small manufacturer. Not some huge cartel like Lily or MeNeil, and the demand for Lunesta, far exceeds their supply or means of making it (at least so far). So I am sure, that unless they suddenly start making a huge production-line and better marketing, it will still take some more time for it too hit pharmacies that haven't pre-orderd it in advance.

I brought my Rx to 2 pharmacies; Rite-Aid and Walgreens and neither had heard of it. Rite-Aid, said it showed in their computer that they had 1 mg pills available but not 2 or 3s!!! So she said we can fill it with 3, 1 mg pills for you. Then she came back and told me, it was a mistake and they didn't know when it would be available. Oh well. I hope this info answers everyone's question

This is the end of the thread.
