Cymbalta and long term side effects

Posted by Suslee on January 22, 2005, at 20:07:25

Just curious about anyone out there who has been on Cymbalta awhile and what (if any) continuing side effects you might be having. Any weight issues in paticular?

hi suslee,

i have been on cymbalta since october. regarding the weight issue, i continue to keep off the ten pounds i lost initially. it is relatively easy not to overeat as cymbalta seems to make you feel full on less food strangely enough. i could probably lose more if i applied myself but i haven't even tried.

i am on 60mg but may have to increase to 90 mg as the joint pain is slowly easing back. at first cymbalta took it away completely.

hope this helps

anastasia

Thanks anatasia56 for replying. I have been concerned about weight gain so your response was helpful. So far I haven't had any weight issues however, as with other drugs in this catagory, sometimes it is just a matter of time. Cymbalta has helped with pain and depression so i'm hoping weight does not become an issue. Thanks again for responding.

I have been on cymbalta and I have lost weight and it does seem like I get full quicker. i tried 2 years of meds and this is the only one that seems to work for me except when my psychostressers are intense. My depression is still there but sometimes I have my moments of peace.

Hi - I've been on Cymbalta for 6 months now at 60mg. Because it increased my blood pressure, I went done to 30mg. I have noticed that since I've been on it, I'm gaining about 1/2 pound per week and have now gained about 13 pounds since being on it. :-( It has to be the Cymbalta because over the past month I've really been exercising a lot and watching my daily calorie intake and I'm still gaining weight. In fact, I'm eating less and more healthy stuff over the past month than before and have gained 2 pounds over the past 2 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this?

Chris
