Seroquel for Insomnia?

Posted by mmcconathy on January 23, 2005, at 14:12:21

Lately i have been having horrible problems getting to sleep. When i actually do go to sleep, its not really sleep, its light sleep. Lose much energy the next day, feel weak.

I am going to put a top on this.

I have heard seroquel is very sedating, and may be helpful for sleep.

Does it suppress REM?

Thanks

Matt

seroquel was pretty potent for me as far as sleep goes. However, I did eventually switch to trazadone because seroquel made uninterested in daily activities for the entire next day.

Thorazine fan here. Mainly because it doesn't zonk you out and it helps keep your mood stable throughout the day. It has a 30 hour half life.

Have you taken Thorazine,

Respirdal is ok, but it really has bad zombie side effects, may psychiatrist gave me samples of 1mg, i hate them.

I may ask about Thorazine, do you think a low dose may help me?

Yes, I have and do take it. It's hard to compare the two meds. I only take 25mg when I need it and I take it about one hour before I want to go to bed. I also take Nozinan which is much stronger than thorazine but in the family. I never take the two together. Nozinan knocks me out cold. Seroquel knocks me out for a few hours and then I am awake but unable to move because I feel so drugged.I hate that feeling and it's not a good sleep. But with Thorazine I sleep well and I feel good the rest of the following day. It was going to be my mood stabiliser until I started to lactate on it.
