thanks medhead for your response to my wellbutrin and effexor question. It was very helpful and gave me a little encouragement. Like you, I also believe this would (if safe) be good for people coming off amphetamines or cocaine since from what I've read and heard, those peoples' dopamine pathways are shot to hell.

your welcome. yes, besides depression and smoking, welbutrin is prescribed for coke addiction often. i would look at a more softer drug than effexor though- effexor is only an ssri at low doses. you don't really get the snri effect until you reach high doses (300+) and then you have another addiction to deal with if you want to get off. prosac(ssri) + welbutrin (own class of drug) + strattera(nri) = much more control over levels and no discontinue withdrawls. just a thought, i'm no dr., just coming from experience. some people do relly well on effexor. coke doesn't even get me high, just makes me chase and chase more and more.
good luck, medhed.
