>i think it depends on what drugs you were on. Benzos are particularily hard to quit, and when i tried the side effects are so bad i just gave up. But a lot of people who have gone through therapy realize a lot of their anxiety/depression is caused by negative coping skills, and drugs won't help with this. I think the only two disorders who sincerely NEED drugs are those that are schizophrenic and bipolar disorder.
P.S. it would help if you would list what drugs you took.

If you decide to come off medication, I think the prevailing wisdom is that it be done extremely gradually over the course of months. This might help prevent a relapse or a phenomenon known as "rebound depression."

Good luck.

>What horrible effect are you so concerned about? You would have no more side effects and you could use plenty of coping skills to get through the day. As far as success stories, i've heard plenty from my therapist. I even got my primary doctor to prescribe wellbutrin for me when i first started antidepressants, and he's not even a pdoc. So i imagine you won't have any trouble coming off of this drug. Remember though-success stories won't affect your individual experience...but they may help motivate you to try it.

oh absolutely, I know.

>What horrible effect are you so concerned about?

ummm...a huge bout of depression.

see my doc is highly opposed to it. in fact so is my T. So that scares me. But I despise drugs.
