Can't put my finger on the word!!

Posted by pretty_paints on January 19, 2005, at 15:16:15

Recently I can't seem to put my finger on the word I'm thinking of. It's really annoying. I sit there for ages going "Oh I know it...I know it...arrrgh...it begins with R...um..uuum..."! I'm cutting down to come off Seroquel and am on another few meds. Anyone have this?

and the harder you try the worse it is, and the more you worry about it, the more it happens. Right?
What ive done recently is try to think of another word, phrase or descriptive sentence to replace the word i'm looking for. the quicker the better. ;-)

That happens to me frequently it's so incredibly annoying. Personally, I've found three causes. 1.Cronic insomnia over a period of days 2. Three or four days of higher than normal benzodiazapene use to treat high levels of stress or insomnia, and 3. Sometimes an SSRI will do it to me. Once I notice it, I'll focus on it and it gets worse.

I've had this too. Funny thing is that since I was put on l50wellbutrin, about lwk ago I seem to be remembering names I couldn't before. Problem is even with sleep meds I can't sleep more than a few hours without taking more. Bad! Phillipa

When I was on Topomax I couldn't form sentences!

Now, when I can't remember a word I try to stay calm (because I think often we panic which makes it worse) and look pensive and then continue with my sentence because the word eventually does come.

Although you're describing a mild form, the inability to smoothly produce language is called aphasia. I must have it, too, as it took me a week to think of the word.
