i have been basically on all of the ssris consitently for about the last 7 years. i started them when i was 18. i am 25 now. for pretty much the whole time i was on them i experienced sexual dysfunction. at first it was anorgasmia, but in the last year or so i was experiencing impotency as well as anorgasmia and overall loss of sex drive. this has been very stressful to me considering these are probably the most sexually active years in someones life. in the past when i reduced the dosages i noticed my sex drive would come back full force for a few days, then it would fade off into nothing. it has been now almost 3 months since my last dose of lexapro. the withdrawal was hell. these drugs are addictive, i dont care what anyone says, but thats a different story. although i have been off of it for 3 monthsl, i still have sexual problems. i am really worried. im paranoid i might have done some permanent damage to my reproductive system. has anyone had a similar situation? when will my sexual functioning return to normal? is it possible that the medication is still in my system? any info would be greatly appreciated.

The sexual side effects of the drug should be gone. I have read a lot of information and a lot of internet posts and I have never heard of sexual side effects of any drug, includingLexapro, lasting for 3 months after discontinuation.
Depression itself, without taking any drugs, is correlated with sexual problems.
If I were you, I would get a prescription for one of the ED drugs such as Viagra.
Also, your experience with Lexapro is typical. People usually do have a rough time getting off of many of the AD's. Taking Prozac while discontinuing an AD is suppose to be very helpful.

thanks bill. its probably a combination of depression and my body readjusting to being without the medicine. after all, i was on it for 7 long years. ive recently read somewhere else that the medication can take 6 months to 2 years to fully leave your system. i guess it gets stored in your fat deposits. thanks again
