Paxil, Day 12 = Headache?

Posted by libbyann on December 8, 2004, at 12:26:11

Did anyone have a headache in the first few doses of Paxil CR? I'm feeling tired and icky, almost flu-ish and have a headache. Also some intestinal issues, if you know what I mean (IBS). Anyone?

When do you have the IBS issues? Do they occur several hours after you take it, or throughout the day?

Throughout the day, mainly when I'm nervous or anxious about something... but sometimes for no reason at all!

I was just curious because Paxil CR bypasses your stomach and dissolves in your lower bowel, hence the name controlled release. Because it releases in your lower bowel it can cause IBS unlike regular Paxil that dissolves immediatly but can cause stomach issues. Also, one of the inactive ingredients in Paxil CR is lactose monohydrate, which is not in regular Paxil.

What's interesting is in the past, before the CR came out, I was taking the regular version and it made me constipated if anything. When the CR came out, I took it and it gave me IBS.

I didn't take the CR long enough before to see if the IBS side effects would go away so I'll be curious to see this time. I was also drinking back then which could have been a huge factor.
