Romours of a combined Mood-Stabiliser/Antidepressa

Posted by JimP on November 25, 2004, at 8:22:09

I have heard mention of a new Mood-Stabilising medication that is also an effective Anti-Depressant. If such a thing exists I would like to know about it.

Perhaps you are thinking of Lamictal (lamotrigine).

I know symbyax is one of the 'new' antipsychotics. I just don't think it can be considered a single medication since it's just a combination of prozac and zyprexa. Geodon is a new medication in a more real sense. What's the point? There is none.

...I guess as a pill symbyax is still technically a Mood-stabiliser/Antidepressant but it's nothing new.

I guess that depends on the synergy issues of the two being metabolized together although i suppose you could just take a prozac and a zyprexa pill at the same time so i see what you mean.

Remember though our bodies are weird (in the sense that we dont really know what they are doing half the time)

combining two different drugs into one compound could be very effective as apposed to taking the same two drugs at the same time.

Look at Picamillon for example,

Thats just Gaba bonded to Niacin, and is very effective at crossing the blood brain barrier and augments benzos very well,

Niacin and gaba taken together but as sepeerate compunds doesn't work the same at all................
