can anyone tell me what dose is best to supress appetite

i know what you mean, zyprexa made me gain and eat like a horse. i felt terrible about myself. i started 50mlg. topamax TODAY! keep me updated and i will do the same, good luck. we can loose the pounds together. NO MCDONALDS! HHHHAHAAAAAAAA

I would monitor your sugar & cholesterol because abdominal fat can be a symptom of drug induced metabolic syndrome.

Hi Ace,
For me and many others, Topomax had really intolerable side effects, and the weight loss side effect eventually wore off, I swear. Weight loss doesn't usually begin until around 150mg, about the same time the major "stupids" set in. If you want to use drug therapy for weight loss, you might want to consider Zonegran, a very similar drug, that has much less, if any, side effects, but has the same weight loss side effect.

I'm well over 100 lbs overweight and have been on 100 mgs of Topamax for about a year. I have had a slow steady weight loss without trying. Most of my winter clothes are about 2 sizes too big for me now. I had some of the negative side effects in the begining but they wore off after 2 months or so. I just started Lexapro and Lamictal for severe depression. I'm hoping to increase the Topamax dosage in the hopes of continuing the weight loss affect though I'm not sure if it works that way (or if I really need it to deal with the manias). I hear the weight loss benefit really kicks in at 150 or 200 mgs so I bet I'd get better results at a higher dosage. We'll see.
