Ok...I'm awaiting duloxetine to be prescribed here in uk..but meanwhile...I've been on 40 mg of paxil for about 12 weeks?? it is beginning to work a little..but I have problem with almost diarriha and go every hour or less with abdominal pains..in between flatulance city--I mean bigtime whoppers..does this cease..I've read elsewhere that it usually goes away after 2 weeks..I'm sore !
I don't orgasm either but I've got used to that over the years..it's just this embarrasing problem I've had for 12 weeks.
What can I take for proper function of my innards?

You can try taking simethicone to break up the gas.

Hi....I have found the best relief from a drug called loperamide. It is OTC here in Canada, so I don't know if you need a script or not. It will make things more regular until the side effect passes.

I have been taking antidepressants now almost continually for the past ten years and have had several long peiods on Seroxat/Paxil. This has been for me a univeral problem with all of the SSRI's but it does pass (excuse the pun) after a few months. There is no reason why in the meantime you can't take Imodium (loperamide) or another anti-diahorreal and I am sure your GP would be happy to write you an NHS script for it (its cheaper that way). Hope this helps.

Duloxetine was recently licensed in the uk for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence but not for depression. The brand name in Yentreve. Your doctor can still prescribe Yentreve for depression though. Loperamide is available without a prescription but only comes in small packs. You would be better off getting a prescription.

Thanks everyone.. paxil is better than any laxative for me..I see the doc soon so I'll see what happens..I'll be starting lithium so that may help or make things worse.
