Lamictal = tiredness???

Posted by Sebastian on October 12, 2004, at 18:38:16

Does anyone find that lamictal makes them more tired than usual, especialy at high doses? I just started at 25 mg, and having a hard time telling if it makes me more tired than usual. Before the lamictal I was increasing zyprexa up to 15 mg to start feeling tired. Since adding lamictal I feel like decreasing from 10 down to 7.5 again, so I'm not dozy. Wondering what happens at a higher dose?

I hope you've tried taking it at night.

Talk to your doc, it sounds like a little Provigil might help you while you adjust for a month or so and then you'll be fine and won't be sleepy or need Provigil after that.

I mentioned that to the doctor but he said to take it in the morning?

I do wonder if others have a problem with tiredness on this drug?

so far the tiredness is very minimal, especialy compared to zyprexa. I do seem to get the right effect with 7.5 zyprexa, but worried if i increase lamictal will I start getting tired.

Ditto here. At 200 mgs and no significant tiredness.

Sebastian:

Just curious, why are you taking the Zyprexa? I'm thinking of switching to that from celexa to address the psychotic aspects of my depression/bpII

Cheers,
Craig

I have scitzoaffective, psychosis, anxiety; for the zyprexa. Been taking for 7 years. Also take celexa for depresion. 3 years. Lamictal is for my moods, like anger. I also take bupropion SR for energy. zyprexa is the best med I have ever taken, it is VERY good for psychotic syptoms. When I take it I have no symptoms, when I don't I go nuts, literaly.
