I'm doing ok. I had computer problems a long time ago and just decided to bail out and later ended up just skimming through and reading now and then. This is a good time of year and had been interested in posting lately, and coincidentally saw your posts, so decided to jump in a little. I'm currently on Depakote 250-375mg/day, Omega3's (about 3gm/day), clonazepam .5-.75mg/day, and a *tiny* bit of duloxetine (3mg approx.). I've been trying all sorts of different things in the past year or so with mixed success-no Lamictal trial still.. but I'm feeling fairly stable now, so I don't want to rock the boat. Dx still clearly atypical/seasonal bipolarII, rapid cycling (2-3wks), panic, migraine, and ADD sx. I'll go into some of the other med trials I've been into later on (maybe tomorrow), because I have to get out on the road shortly.
-- thanks for your concern---

> -- thanks for your concern---Wow ... good to hear from you. I haven't posted for about 2 years, but have been reading off and on during that time. I have a feeling my "panic/depression/social anxiety and family history of bp II" disorder is similar to your own. I seem to respond to similar medications (but at higher doses .... now zoloft 75, wellbutrin 100, lithium 450, klonopin 1). Actually, most of my searches include your name .... like if I need to know about depakote, I will search "Mitch and Depakote" because I seem to respond like yourself.
Well, glad to know your still out there!
Actually, have you ever tried mirapex?

I seem to need both antidepressants and mood stabilizers on board to feel normal. Lithium and depakote sometimes feel too *heavy* .... do you feel neurontin or klonopin have stabilizing properties? (despite most pdocs/literature saying they do not for bp I) .... Thanks Paul

Hi Paul,
Mirapex... I tried that before. It didn't do much for me. It caused way too much sleepiness and lethargy in the daytime. Pergolide worked a little better for me, but it was too nauseating for the benefits it gave. I wonder if Mirapex might be a good sleeper....?
Need for AD's as well as mood stabilizers...
I have to agree with you there for sure. Earlier this year I went without them and didn't do well at all. Can't take much though. SRI's definitely are the ones that trigger nearly immediate hypomania and kick up cycling. If I take *too much* it ends up making everything worse. NRI's and stims don't seem to accentuate the *cycling*, they *do* work well for my bipolar depression, but they don't do much for anxiety-in fact they tend to make me too aloof, quiet and tense (and sometimes dysphoric), but at least I feel generally the same over time..I think clonazepam definitely has *antimanic* qualities and if I'm having mixed symptoms with prominent anxiety it cools that down a lot. I wished I could tolerate Neurontin better (I get esophageal spasm and chest tensions on it that I can't stand). It really made a wonderful augmentor with Depakote for all sorts of co-morbid anxiety sx. It has however triggered some mild hypomanias.. there were two pdoc visits where I had taken some Neurontin for a few days just prior to visiting and I got some remarks like: "I'm sensing a little pressured speech from you-what's up?..". However, I *never* got any dysphoria or mixed stuff attributable to Neurontin it was always a euphoric chattiness.
hope that helps some.. :)
