Nardil + Tramadol- not bad at all!!!...more qstns.

Posted by ace on September 7, 2004, at 23:39:14

Took my first Tramadol dose two nights ago- 50mg

within two hours i became very happy, and the whole next day remained quite so (but not Nardil euphoric happiness)

last night, took 50mg again, again felt happy.

Essentially at a higher dose I think this could kick back in The Nardil euphoria I experienced. Doc has give me 50mg capsules.

should I up the dose to 100mg.

If so, take it is a single dose at night (it has a sedative effect) or 50mg b.i.d.???

also, it hasn't touched my OCD or anxiety yet, but I have a feeling it will in time...how long you think??

Eventually if I do give Nardil a 3 month break I'm preety sure Tramadol (200-300mg) will be my drug of choice during the break.

Thanks!!!!

Ace
Nardil- 60mg (30mg b.i.d.)
Zyprexa 2.5 nocte
Xanax- 2mg mane
Tramadol 50mg nocte

Hi there Ace, glad to hear the combo is showing promise! My advice is to give the 50mg dose another two or three days, primarily for the purpose of developing some tolerance to the sedation (and possible nausea at higher doses). Beyond that, and with your doctor's permission, moving up to the standard 100mg dose sounds perfectly logical to me. It would probably be best taken before bed at first, but future experimentation will help you decide the correct dosing intervals. It sounds as if your post is implying an all-day effect from a single dose? If so, that's wonderful -- I think there is an extended-release form available in Australia as well, for future reference. Can't think of the name offhand.

Best of luck,
~Michael

I agree.

You think as a single dose or 50mg bid?

Yes, it definately feels that way.

I'll check that out. In addition, I have noticed a little stimulation of my oCD symptoms...and this is a good thing. As Michael Jenike mD and other OCD specialists have stated an initial rise in OCD symptoms usually predicts a good response.

I have seen reports of rapid remmission of OCD with Tramadol, this usally means 1-2 weeks me thinks. Of course, OCD remission would be more conducive at 100mg.

I have no doubt that at higher doses of Tramadol, i will feel in heavan! I'm even thinking of giving Nardil a 3 month break (to negate the 30% poop-out I have had on it) and taking 200-300mg Tramadol in that break. What do you think??

Have either of you tried Effexor? It's nearly the same molecule as Tramadol. I also think you are flirting with SS because Tramadol is a SRI & NRI just like Effexor.

Cheers,
Paul.

Well I took 100mg all at once last night....apart from insomnia and a little higher body temperature there were no adverse effects. SS is usually mild anyhow.

Might consider effexor while i give nardil a 3 month break, but tramadol has been really good so far...

Hi Ace,

SS can be fatal, the lethal part is your temperature goes out of control & pushes you into convulsions & brain damage. Zyprexa is a fairly good 5-HT2A antagonist & would help block SS from occuring to some degree. If you go beyond hypomania & start becoming confused I would be inclined to take some extra Zyprexa & go to hospital.

http://www.psychotropical.com/ has some very good info on SS with most of the data coming from Australian hospitals.

Cheers,
Paul.
