I had a gastric bypass for weight loss three months ago and wonder if anyone has had one and knows anything about absorption of meds after this surgery. My psyc. is not sure. I was on Wellbutrin XL and told this would not get properly absorped so went to SR but I do not think it works as well. Is it necessary to increase doses of meds to get the same effect as preop? If anyone knows, I would really welcome the input. Thanks

Hi. I can't answer your question right off but I can ask my mother in law since she's had the gastric bypass also. I do know that right after her surgery the pain meds they gave here were in liquid form instead of tablets because of absorption issues. However, now, a couple of years later she takes regular meds i.e. pills normally.
