I was also wondering if many people where having jaw clenching problems on lex and how long it takes before it goes away. I would love any suggestions to help this go away. Thanks

Yes this can be annoying, will lessen but for some like myself it doesn't go away. Currently 16+ mos. now @40mg, and still have this clenching. If I notice I can make self stop, and it's not nearly as bad as it was in the beginning. Something I CAN put up with as Lex has helped me in many other ways.

Good Luck!~~~8|8

I'm new to Lexapro as well. Only been on for 3 days. Today I couldn't stop yawning most of the afternoon. I think that's why my jaw hurts today. Also very tired feeling but can't sleep well. I've never been on medications so I hope these s/e's are temporary or I don't want to be on them.

These are typical se's, most go away in 2-3 wks. May take 6-8 wks. before you feel *improvement*.

Hang in there, it does get better!~~~8|8

Jaw clenching

Yes, I clench my jaws on Lexapro, too. In fact, I was on Zoloft prior to Lexapro and that's when it started for me. I only clench my jaws at night, though, during sleep. I would wake up with a sore jaw and wondered what was going on, finally after my regular dentist visit, it was brought to my attention that I was doing some serious teeth-grinding in my sleep - hence the tired jaw. After about 2 yrs. on this, I'm still grinding and clenching...so for me, at least, it does NOT subside. Both my dentist and my psych. recommend sleeping with a bite guard, but I just don't want to deal with that. Maybe it will help you, though - if it is that bothersome.

Good luck and best wishes.

oh yeah, and look out for night-sweats, too! NFM (nm)

ahhh the jaw clenching. I didn't put two and two together for a while. I thought I had chewed my gum like a cow or got some chips stuck in my teeth, flossed too hard, whatever.

tooth-pain, headaches and raw cheeks were all from clenching/biting while sleeping. This doesn't happen all the time so I can deal. But when I notice it starting again I make a mental note before bed. This is weird, but I put my tongue between my teeth (lightly) and somehow it keeps the clenching at bay.
