Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone here (and I expect they do) gets any physical sensations with their depressiona and what they are.
I often get strange sensations all the way down my spine and before I started taking Antidepressants a very rigid feeling in the muscles of my face and jaw. Also, I was getting cold chills a lot and when I was really bad, at night I'd feel as though my head was being forced back. I started to think I was in hell because of what it says in the bibles about "nashing of teeth"
When I had my first ever bout of depression I used to get a burning sensation in my feet.
Does anyone else get any of the above physical symptoms?
Denise

Wondering if you had a neuro. exam or any brain scans? I'd recommend such, based on my experiences.

Hi,
Your whole body twitches? Is that an affect of the medication you take do you think? Or is it always a symptom of a depression coming on?

Yes am thinking of having them but not sure what they will tell me.
Can you tell me what your experiences are?

> DeniseSome years ago when I had MDD, I had some neuro. symptoms (droopy rt. eye, rt. side head pressure, and others). Dr. ordered beam scan which showed some abnormalities in my right temporal lobe, and other brain areas. therefore I was given Tegretol in addition to Parnate.
Recently I was told that my physical symptoms were due to my recent Dep. episode. I found out I have POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), a type of dysautonomia. Neuro. said it's mild, but Florinef and atenolol and increased salt intake have helped. Neuro. said I might want to get PET scan.
Point: A lot of other conditions can cause physical symptoms while you have Dep.., besides Dep. Just because you have Dep., doesn't mean you can't have other physical problems.

Do you actually see things twitching? They may be benign fasiculations:
