I've been taking Tramadol for 3 or 4 years with Nardil...daily for the last 6 months. I may be taking some sort of risk though, in favor of some pain relief. Most of the time I do fine; it does cause euphoria that I didn't experience when I was off the Nardil for 3 months. Also there have been several times (recently, with my increased intake) where I felt I was having a more serious reaction making it a little difficult to breathe, and feeling like my throat was closing up. Oddly though, this has occurred at the same dosage I have taken for a long time.

Thgis is the one person I have heard of safely combining the two- well, preety safely

Hi Ace!

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents, for what it's worth. I'm not sure if you followed along with my experience with tramadol for depression/SP/mild OCD/fibromyalgia early last year, but I have nothing but good to say about it except for my idiosynchratic reaction which resulted in my discontinuation -- i.e., it seemed to exacerbate my fibro pain in the long run, which I'm sure is an uncommon reaction. And then there was an awful withdrawal that was *very* consistent with SSRI withdrawal syndrome, but it was nothing a little Prozac couldn't handle.

That said, during my six-month Nardil trial a couple years back, I took Ultram at one point for a couple weeks just for whiplash pain after a minor accident. I felt a little feverish if I took the full 100mg dose (and a bit euphoric as the other poster you quoted mentioned, though I wasn't complaining about that, lol). Fifty milligrams worked very well, though. People definitely tend to underestimate the SNRI effects of this drug, but I'd say it's no more dangerous than a tricyclic + MAOI combination used judiciously with a low dose (25-50mg TID or QID) to start. I absolutely wouldn't exceed the maximum recommended daily dose of 400mg daily though -- but again, that's just my opinion. Provided that you're under the care of an open-minded and knowledgeable physician, I see no problem with this combination. Good luck!

Hi Ace,

Have you tried Tramadol's very close cousin Venlafaxine? It worked instantly for me. I'd try Risperidone & Abilify too before giving Nardil a rest, I think the four atypical AP's we can get are significantly different from each other to warrant trying them all.

Cheers,
Panda.
