I am at the end of my rope with drugs and the weight gain I have had from almost every med I have taken, 8 drugs so far. I have just been given Topamax to help lose the 30+ lbs I have gained from various meds, and to help with my mood swings (esp. PMDD).
1) At what dose and what length of time has it taken before you have seen a loss in weight?
2)At what dose have you noticed any mood stability? Also, did you have cognitive difficulties?

Seems like it started suppressing my appetite at about 75 mg, and at about 100-125 mg started making me stupid. I finally had to get off for that reason. I switched to Zonegran, which makes me less stupid (but does have some slowing of mental clarity).
I take it for migraine prevention.

Topamax has helped me alot. I will write a detailed response to your questions tonight. I'm at work & need to get off the computer :-)
