Was just prescribed Meloxicam for osteo-arthritis

Wondered if chemist or anyone can tell me a way to speed up its theraputic effect. The Package says 5 to 7 days...even thought it reaches peak
at 4-5 hours. Why so long ( days) before it helps?
Does this mean NO Pain Relief until day 7 or later??? Can I speed up the process???

Thanks in advance

hello there, chemist here....this is a cox(2) inhibitor, and i believe that due to the nature of the way the drug is metabolized, the pain relief might peak in a day or two: the 5 to 7 day quote seems more appropriate in terms of ``do not use this stuff for more than 5 to 7 days,'' as all signs point to lowest effective dose over shortest period of time. i see that max. daily dose should not exceed 15 mg, so i wouldn't push it, myself. if your initial 7.5 mg/qd dose isn't cutting it, and you can (literally) stomach it, then perhaps cutting a tab in half and adding it for a total of 11.25 mg (i would take the uneven doses separately to avoid stomach upset) will suffice until you max out at 15 mg qd. just watch the side effects and pace yourself, let your stomach guide you, and relief is on the way sooner than 1 week! all the best, and please keep us informed when you feel relief....all the best, chemist
