I have cut from 10 mg to 5 mg of Lex. I am going through bad withdrawals. Sickness, nausea, headache, dizziness. I have had a lot of people recommend to me to switch to Prozac to ease the withdrawals. My question is do I just stop taking the Lex and just switch straight over to the Prozac. Second, what dose of Prozac should I start at. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would first call you pdoc and let him know that your withdrawal symptoms are horrible, my pdoc was the one that suggested Prozac (20mg) after I went off of the Lexipro. I tappered off like you.
Good luck, it gets better!

Do I need to be totally off the Lexapro to start the Prozac and for how long?

I believe Tapering off your dose by 50% is to much to fast. I would suggest reducing your dose by 25% and stay at the new dose for 2 weeks. Keep repeating this until you are free from the medication. I know that this takes time and that cutting those mini pills is not easy, but it works!
