Lamictal side effects-itching

Posted by Joey Flitcraft on May 17, 2004, at 10:33:12

I am having trouble with severe itching but it seems to be only in one area. I have an implant due to reconstruction following a mastectomy. It started internally inside of the breast. It lasted three days and then disappeared. I went itch free for 3 days and it now it has started again under my arm (same side) but it is short stabbing pains that last about 2 seconds. The pain is not awful but is extremely annoying. It reappears once or twice a minute. There seems to be no relief. It seems like a nerve.

Does anyone have itching or stabbing pains only in one area? Both are internal and cannot be itched. I don't want to remove my implant if it is due to the medicine but it is unbearable. My neurologist says that if I was allergic to the medicine, it would not be just in one place.

Thanks for your comments. Barb, you said the pain felt like bee stings. I guess this could be described like that. I'm now on 150 mg. of lamictal.
Thanks
Joey

I got a very itchy rash from Lamictal on only one butt cheek and then on one shoulder blade. The medication was discontinued and the rash went away in a few days with the help of Benydryl orally and topically. My point is the allergic reaction can be in only one or two spots, I am proof.
