I asked my doctor for Provigil to combat the awful sleepiness I'm experiencing with Effexor (and with depression in general, I guess). He gave me a Strattera sample instead. I'm concerned about adding the Strattera because it has a minor interaction with my asthma med (Advair diskus). I'm a little disppointed and don't know much about this new med--does anyone have experience with Strattera and Provigil?

>I see a sleep doc for sleepiness/add, and he works with my pdoc and is about to put me on the combo of Provigil+Straterra. I tried Provigil, and it didn't do anything for me... but he claims if I try them combined, it has a synergy to one anothe.r
good luck!

I just started Strattera today and take Advair myself. What type of interaction does it have with Advair?? I told my Dr. that I take Advair and she said it should be a problem. The package insert said that Strattera may interact with Albuterol but wouldn't reduce the effectiveness of the medication (albuterol).

No experience with Provigil other than I know it promotes wakefullness/alterness. I do have experience with Strattera, but limited success. It was hard to tell if it was positively influencing attention symptoms; the psychostimulants are much more effective. I think that Strattera (atomoxetine) *may* theoretically procure greater efficacy if it is prescribed in concert with Provigil - it's an interesting therapy. I'd like to know how it turns out if you are actually prescribed this undiscovered polypharmacy scenerio.

>I'm not sure if it's exactly published (that would take awhile) but this is coming from a sleep doc leading the world in pediatric add/sleep apnea coorelations who prescribes the combo... he said his patients have seen great results with the combo, and even dismissed the notion that I failed Provigil by itself as a reason not to pursue it.
This is the end of the thread.
