Ideally, you should contact your doctor and let him evaluate what is best to do. I don't think it would hurt to stop taking the Lexapro entirely at this point. Anxiety is often a side effect that emerges early in treatment with certain SSRIs. I believe that Prozac and Lexapro are the worst. It usually subsides though.

Lexman,

I'm sorry you are having trouble with Lexapro. I started taking it a few days ago but stopped because I am one of the rare people who reacted with vomiting and sleeplessness and nausea.

Anyway, in regards to your situation, I have taken prozac before and plan to start taking it again (instead of Lexapro) if my doctor agrees. I thought it might be good to try Lexapro since all the literature says it is "well-tolerated" and, of course, my doctor suggested it.

Underhill posted a great account of why prozac worked for me and lexapro didn't. I don't know if this applies to your situation, but it wouldn't hurt to take a look, right?

I can also tell you that I didn't experience any problems with libido on prozac. Of course, everyone is different and I don't know if you are concerned about that, but thought i would mention it.

Here's a link to Underhill's post on prozac and lexapro:

Hang in there.
