Buspar and Agoraphobia + Anticipatory anxiety

Posted by anthony 1975 on April 13, 2004, at 7:39:14

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone had any experience of Buspar for Agoraphobia.
I have a fear of going away from home (i.e. abroad) and ahve a business trip in 2 weeks.
Am on Buspar (15mg) for 10 days but still get awful anxiety when i think about going.

Should i ask my doctor about an SSRI (but will hardly work in 2 weeks) or will the buspar eventually work?
Any help appreciated.

Maybe a benzo or a beta blocka would be better.. beta blocka will stop the symptoms so u dont go into vicious cycling.. benzo is short term and will just calm u down..

( it has been said ) that Buspar just isnt enough to do a good job . I didnt start doing better until I upped it to 30mg per day (along with Lexapro).

Still not enough to get me out of the house without panic--- but it was the best I had done in 4 years.
