Sulpiride: Anybody Got Tardive Dyskinesia on it?

Posted by Pluto on March 17, 2004, at 22:21:58

Hi to all,

The literature says Tardive dyskinesia is uncommon with sulpiride if not rare. I wonder if there is anyone in this board who can tell me when I am going to get it? I have just began to use it and my dosage 100 mg daily. TD is definitely not something I want to acquire.

Hi Pluto.

You might not get many replies to your query, as there are so few people here who have tried sulpiride. 100mg is a rather low dosage, and hopefully, will be less apt to cause EPS and TD. I don't know how rare TD is for sulpiride, but there are a few reports of it on Medline. Sulpiride probably carries a risk of EPS somewhere between those of the older typical neuroleprics and the newer atypical neuroleptics. The risk seems to be as high or higher than that of Risperdal (risperidone).

I tried taking sulpiride (Sulparex) 50mg to treat bipolar depression. I found it helpful, but the improvement was transient. Others have had great success with sulpiride as a treatment of depression.
