Hi Ace, you have so selflessly shared info, I thought I thought I'd just quickly chime in; I realize people respond differently to drugs, for me clonazepam is definately effective, but I'm horribly addicted to it - I can modify the statement using horribly with some confidence as a team of psychologists and a psychiatrist tried to pull me off it, from four down to 2.5 mg in five weeks, which is definately far faster than recommended, even so, my anxiety spun so far out of control I found myself burning myself with an iron to ward off suicidal thoughts.
A physician who helped people get off benzo's told me the best way to get off them is to switch to another benzo, and slowly taper off. Just my experience, clonazepam has definately been a devil's bargain, I don't know about xanax. However regarding OCD I got a hold of some codeine and found that it did wonders for my OCD. Now of course it is also habit forming for many but, if taken with an NDMA, (sp?) antagonist, there's is a lot of literature suggesting tolerance can be kept at bay, (Amesansvie is a wealth of information on substances to prevent opiod tolerance) The extra good news is that Codiene can be taken with nardil - I think - I mean I took it and the pharmacist said it was okay, but of course you'd want to check it out. Anyway I hope that helps, I don't know if I've spend the past sentences trying to compell you to give up a useful drug for something more addictive, just something to think about - the maximum dosage for codeine according to one source can be found at the following addy - hope this helps I wouldn't wish the living hell of OCD on my worst enemy.http://www.jamaicahospital.org/pages/physician/pharmacy_nwsltr/pharm_june03.htm

Hi, I know this message is for Ace, but I wanted to share my experience with Lexapro for OCD. I take 30mg of Lexapro and I have almost no OCD symptoms. I have also tried Zoloft and had to take klonopin regularly while on that. If you have not already tried it, Lexapro was a miracle for my OCD. Good luck. J
