I take it very occasionally, maybe twice a month when I have a Bipolar breakdown and can't sleep. Problem is, I think it makes me depressed the next day.
Anybody else?

Yes. I take it just like you--occasionally for tension when the bipolar pendulum starts to swing. It helps me calm down, but I often feel mildly depressed the next day.

Yes, yes. I have been trying to figure this out, too. I was on a drug holiday last year and in the fall got terribly ill. No medical reason could be found, so I was started on Ativan, as I had lots of anxiety and nausea, was losing weight, and wasn't sleeping. On the Ativan, I started sleeping, but soon felt depression. (Was it always there, but masked by the anxiety?) So then I was started on Lamictal, and that went well for 6-8 weeks, until I got a rash.
The doc didn't RX another mood stabilizer cause she thought anxiety was more of my problem than mood. But within a few days, I was feeling depressed again. Now she started me on Trileptal, which I've taken before with mixed results. This SEEMS to increase my anxiety. Anybody with that happen?
So now, I'm on Ativan and Trileptal. The former, for anxiety, maybe makes me depressed, and the latter, for depression (mood stabilization), maybe makes me anxious? Aagghh! What to do??

FWIW: Healthsquare.com (where I go to look up drugs) lists depression as one of the "less common" or "rare" side effects of Ativan.
