Is all day dizzyness common when stepping off Paxil?

Being dizzy or lightheaded is the least of your concerns. I'm down to 2.5mg/day from 20mg fifteen months ago. It hasn't been entirely easy. As my pdoc told me, if you feel dizzy, don't fight it, sit down or lay down. What is your step down plan?

I have never felt dizzy from quiting it but I do get those brain zaps that people get from Effexor and also I will go into a bad depression.

My step down plan is to take 10 mg for 7 days followed by 5 mg for another 7 days. After that I have no more paxil left. Thank you for replying.

I got wicked rushes of lightheadedness when coming off paxil, along with wooshing sounds in my ears. Although, I quit cold-turkey which supposedly makes it worse.

Yes, for a couple of weeks. I was taking 20mg, took 10mg for 2 days and stopped. I had absolutely no problem quitting Paxil except dizzyness.

Thanks theo, its comforting to hear a non horror story about withdrawl.

I truly hope your plan works for you. A month after going from 7.5 to 5mg, I stepped down to 2.5 about five or six days ago, the sh*t hit the fan yesterday. The zaps are mild, but anoying, I have some new shooting pains in my head a couple times an hour, I am aggitated, angry, unfocused and I have a brief to finish at work. I took 200mg Ibuprofin and .25 of Xanax, it seems to help. I know that not everyone has the same side effects or withdrawl experiences, so best of luck to you. If you and your pdoc agree that Paxil is not right for you, get off it and stay off whether it takes a month or 18 months. Take care.

i'm coming off it in order to reclaim my lost sex drive (including random hard-ons, and unpredictable ejaculation) as well as other side effects (dizziness, shaking)

Since i halved my dose a few days ago, i have been very light-headed, dizzy, vision a bit weird (hard to focus, tracking) and i can hear trombones everywhere. pretty psycho, huh?

i know these are common side effects and i'm just putting up with them, i know they are only temporary. it's best just to not worry about them. i think at least a small amount of exercise and eating properly are helping me immensely.

would love to hear how you are going now

I am actually doing just fine now. I did take about 4 weeks to get back to 'normal'. Feeling lathargic, dizzy, non-social, etc.... they all passed.

thats about how long i guessed it should take, kind of the same symptoms as when i started it.

did you feel extremely tired while you were taking it? i am constantly tired... i need at least 10 hours sleep at night, regardless of whether or not i sleep during the day. i hate it.

Yeah, i did notice that i was tired all the time. another thing I noticed was that when i would walk a round, and then turn the corner, i would get a weird sensation. not nessarily a bad or good feeling, but a weird feeling none the less. i did feel anti-social for a while, not haveing any desire to hang out with my friends but everything is ok now.
