I am Bipolar 1 and I currently take two meds:
Geodon 40 mg
Lamictal 400 mgI have gone through a LOT to get my "cocktail" just right and I think that I've found it.
Since I started taking this combo, however, I have very little appetite. At times, it is a real struggle just to eat a piece of cheese. Since I gained 50+ pounds from a 2 year stint of Zyprexa, losing my appetite is not such a big deal to me.
However, Geodon has to be taken with food in order to reach its max bioavailability. This much I understand. The problem is understanding how much food you have to eat in order to get the desired effect. What does "take with food" really mean? An entire meal? Some cottage cheese?
This may seem like a frivolous question, but I can't help but wonder if I'm eating enough to get the drug into my system.
I see my pdoc every Tuesday, so I can ask him then, but I have 3 doses to take in the meantime. Anyone have any ideas?

>Usually I take mine after or along with a meal. I"ll have some yoghurt in the morning along with fruit and orange juice and take mine then.
Then for the evening dose I take it after dinner. I've been told that protein is important with Geodon, so taking it with cottage cheese would
be a good idea. Sorry I can't offer more.

Do you feel like the Geodon is working for you? I am currently taking 40 mg and I'm cycling into hypomania. Of course, I'm really enjoying it now, but it will inevitably end and it's becoming physically and emotionally exhausting.
I don't know what the max dose is for Geodon. If you're on more than 40 mg, let me know.

wasn't doing the best job. But it could be that what I've been experiencing is the best that I can expect from the drug. I"ll let you know how I'm doing at 200mg.
