I am now up to 450mg's of Wellbutrin. The first day that I went from 300mg's to 450mg's, I felt GREAT!
The next day nothing! What happened?!?!? I've been on the 450mg's for 1 & 1/2 weeks and only had one good day...UGH!I also take Zonegran & Seroquel (taken at night for bipolar), been on the Seroquel forever! and just switch from Topamax to the Zonegran a week and a half ago.
I wanted the Wellbutrin to give me the activating effect but I only got that one day. What do I do now?

You may be barking up the wrong tree...
Wellbutrin is *generally* considered to be a drug to treat attentiveness in ADHD patients. It could be that your doseage is too high as well. 450mg sounds like alot.
I was getting edgy and irritable with just 75mg of Wellbutrin.
Your provider may want to consider an alternative medication for the effect you're trying to achieve.

> TR**** I was on a lower dose to start with, I've been on this for months. The pdoc keep increasing the dose because I wasn't getting the 'activating' effect that I wanted. Now at 450mg's I still don't have that effect...UGH!!!
What other 'alternative medication' are you talking about? I would love to know of something that might work for me. Thanks

I wish I knew. I'm fairly new to this thing. I'm clinically depressed with ADHD. Currently I'm taking Effexor in the morning and Topomax in the evening for sleep and mood stablization. I may also have some BP, we're looking at that.
I personally find Wellbutrin activating, but that's not why I take it. Caffeine usually does that for me :)
I honestly don't have an answer, I just want to be an encouragement to you to keep looking, just as I have had to keep looking to come to Topomax after 4 other sleep aids.
I'm still trying to research BP. Why do you need the activation during the day? are the night meds leaving you groggy? I tried Seroquel at night for sleep, but it made me feel hung-over the next day, so we dropped it after two weeks...
If I hear of anything, I'll let you know...

***** I'm on Seroquel. I take it for my bipolar disorder. Without the Seroquel I get paranoid thoughts and have hallucinations (I even have some break through hallucinations when I'm very stressed out). So yes I want the activating effect to help me during the day so I don't feel so tired and unmotivated.I took Topomax for my mood stabilizer for I think about 2 and 1/2 years and just now on 1/12/04 was switched to Zonegran. Topomax was good for me as a mood stabilizer but I did have VERY bad hair loss the entire time I was on it even with taking the vitamins that are suppose to help. But if the Zonegran doesn't work I'll go back on the Topomax and live with the massive hair loss.
