Hey Bob,
Have you noticed though that the songs in your head don't bother you as much or as frequently? They aren't worrying me as much presently. Also entering my third week still on 5 mg and about to go to 7.5 the nausea has gone when I take the med at night but I still dry heave badly in the shower every morning. Ever experience this anyone.

> Certainly seems that side effects are slowly improving with one big however. I have a light rash on my back which is a little itchy. I am hoping this will go away as the Lex feels like it may be starting to work and I don't want to stop at this point. Anyone out there get a temporary rash with this med. It could also be the restoril I am taking to sleep at night as I think I had the rash prior to the Lex.
> Thanks all - Steve

Yes I had the itchy rash on back. Went away on its own after couple of weeks.~~~8|8

I have definitely had the nausea, but no heaves yet.. I have been on 10mg per day for about 3.5 weeks now.

Question for Forbidden

Forbidden,

I have been taking 10 mg of Lex for about as long as you have (18 days). I'm wondering, how are you feeling? Less depressed/anxious? Noticing any change in side effects?

I feel really out of it, muddled thinking. My anxiety is letting up a bit though, and that's nice. I can't sleep through the night yet, but I don't feel quite as depressed. :)

Thanks guys I find this board to be so helpful. Mariposa you are awesome - Really puts my mind at ease to know that rash should go away.
Nick the heaves are insane (perhaps an inappropriate term) in the morning for about 3 - 4 minutes then I feel actually quite a bit better. I am always most anxious in the morning, beginning of the day so maybe this is a reaction to the anxiety.

Hi K,

I actually mistyped when I said how long I have been on Lex, I have been on it exacty 18 days as well! Crazy eh?

Anyway, I am feeling better I can tell - I still have bad days, or hours like today. I am getting these off/on headaches, some nasuea. I still feel some lightheadedness, but that was a big reason I started taking this. I do at times feel a bit out of it, as though it takes a bit longer for me to process information, you know what I mean?

I also have started waking up 2 or 3 times every night, but usually get back to sleep fairly quickly.

I never really felt depressed, but my Dr. told me that I am suffering from a type of depression fueled by anxiety, a type of depression that does not have the typical signs.

Nice speaking with you.....let's keep up the chat.

Hi, Steve.
I've read other postings about nausea being a side effect with Lexapro, but fortunately that particular one apparently proceeded with a light bounding step and skipped right over me, thank God.
About the song lyrics, I think you're right, maybe they've lessened ... or maybe I'm just getting use to it .. either way, I say yay.
By the way, I started on 10 mg's and am still there, and will probably stay there since it's helping the depression tremendously.

Anyone care for a laugh? Don't throw eggs and I'll give you one...
Speaking of football [quiet out there] and the fact that all of us guys have TV-eyes from watching the playoffs and the college bowl games this weekend ... a university psychology professor had just given his students a lecture on manic depression. He pointed to one of their football team's linebackers sitting in his class and asked: "How would you diagnose a patient who walks back and forth screaming at the top of his lungs one minute, then sits in a chair weeping uncontrollably the next?"
The boy answered, "A football coach?"

Take care all .. Bob

Interesting about the song lyrics - I often have them going through my head too, but it's been that way my whole life, so I never thought of it as being anything unusual. I suppose there are worse things, unless of course it's Brittany Spears or something....

It is good to read these posts and see what could be a side effect. I went from 5 to 10 mg and felt so sick! I did lose 5 pounds in 3 weeks (with no effort since I was on and off nauseous. ugh. But now I feel better that way.

You should be feeling better any day now.I do know what you mean about being tired and wired at the same time. It does go away and you will make it through. Take comfort in knowing that many of us have had the same feelings. Its not you, its the medication and you will feel like yourself (minus depression) soon. Mrs. C

I take mine at night right before bed. When I used to feel "tired & wired" (I dont really feel that way very much anymore)it would be when I first woke up and lasted until about lunchtime. Hope that helps. Mrs. C

Yes, it truly does get better. The second week was the most difficult for me and I really didn't see much improvement until week 5. Just now starting to feel the true benefits of lex at 9 weeks. Hang in there and maybe try reading some older posts for reassurance. Mrs. C

I asked my doctor about advil when she prescribed lex to me. I have always suffered from tension headaches and advil was almost a daily thing for me. She said that advil is perfectly safe to take with lex. By the way, I have only had one headache since I began lex. Another benefit for me. Thanks for your post. Mrs. C.

My doctor had originally prescribed me to take lex at bedtime. However, I was having a really hard time sleeping, which was not unusual for me but seemed to be worse on Lex at night..so I asked a pharmacist and he said that these meds are usually taken in the morning. I just switched on my own, my sleeping is slightly better, still wake up with night sweats but my days have gotten weirder..terrible mood swings. I see the doc on Friday and will ask about this.

I don't know where you live, but - were it me - I'd be more likely to guess that it's typical winter dry-skin itch . . . I'll let you know if I get any rashes. So far, so good, though I've got a weird neck tightness - sort of a strychnine feeling. otherwise I'm doing pretty well.

take care,

"Psycho-Social-Babble". If you scroll to the top of the page, and the bottom too I think, there's a link to it. It's where people are supposed to post when they stray too far for too long from the topic of medications, near as I can tell - I've seen Dr. Bob redirect people's conversations there. It seems a little odd to me since I would not have found this board were it not for questions about medication, and the subject of medication is tied in with everything else - the seperate boards thing is strange, but I guess I understand that all these posts can get unwieldy. How Dr. Bob keeps on top of it all, I can't imagine (since it does appear that he reads it all)
anyway, that's where my response is.

So I've been on here long enough to know that some people lose their appetite as a s/e of Lexapro. I hadn't experienced that. In my fifth week though and for the past few days I have not been eating much nor have I been very hungry. I have been on 10 mg for about 10 days (after being on 5 mg for four weeks). Last night I was WIRED so I guess the Lex is doing something a litle different now. No question here, just felt like babbling a little about latest changes. Good luck everyone.

I'd just like to plug the double double quotes feature at this site:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#amazon

The first time anyone refers to a book without using this option, I post this to try to make sure he or she at least knows about it. It's just an option, though, and doesn't *have* to be used. If people *choose* not to use it, I'd be interested why not, but I'd like that redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration:

Thanks!
