Hi All
I am taking a medication holiday from my ADD medication. I am presently on 40 mg dexedrine sr in the morning and 25 mg in the afternoon. I haven't taken a day off from meds in about 3 months.
I was expecting to be tired, but I wasn't prepared for the despondency I feel. I started a fight with my significant other before he had to go out of town on a job interview...the fight was waranted, but could have waited until a much better time.
Anyway, I digress :) I have been weepy all day and basically feel like all is lost...I can't hardly stand myself.
Does anyone else have this bad of withdrawal?

Yes!
In the past I would stop all meds cold turky for some number of many days. I would totaly lose my mind, you don't want to hear about it. Walking around naked. The best way to take a holiday, is to take a parcial one. Decress the meds slowly in increments of a week or 2 at a time. Don't go much more than half what you are supposed to take. Keep track of how you feel, and learn what to expect each increment. Then when you feel you need the medicine or have to go to the doctor again, slowly go back up in dose. Maybe even talk to your doctor about the dose level and get a new dose. Thats what I did a few months ago. Worked out for the better.

Thanks Sebastian, I think I will take a low dose of my adderall. When you say you would cold turkey on your meds, were talking just add medication or others as well?

When I say cold turky, I would stop all at once in one day. Its not a good idea, your head will go nuts.
Slow decreases and increases are best, easyest to acomidate.
