Hello to all who know me, and those who don't! I recently started working as a nurse(last week)and i was taking effexor xr 75mg and i just didn't feel "right".. if that makes sense. So i decided to d/c it and was fine for a little while. My underlying problem is anxiety and panic attacks, GAD probably. The thing is, when i had the physical symptoms, i wanted to do anything to relieve the shortness of breath, palps, etc., but effexor kind of made me more wired, yet felt mentally 'spacey'... I haven't taken anything for two weeks, maybe a klonopin here and there. Basically, i find myself having difficulty articulating my words and find myself confused and trouble concentrating.. also very irritable. I cannnoootttt afford to be this way. I am a nurse and i have to be sharp and able to think clearly. My doctor doesn't know what to do with me and I just need to feel better :) So, do you guys think maybe lexapro is a better option? I want the most effective med with the least side effects.. and the side effects should be tolerable. I am trying to look at studies and surveys to get an idea of what people in general find the better med, but i don't know!!!!! Please help me, I hate feeling spacey, lack of concentration, brain fog, and also the underlying anxiety!!! Your support would be much appreciated.

I too suffer with anxiety and panic attacks. It was really hard for me to keep my job. my doctor tried a few different medications and they gave me bad side effects. I was so ill all the time.. I lost my job. AFTER i was fired... I was put on Lexapro. WOW... what a great medication. The only side effect i got at first was drowsiness. It really helps anxiety and panic attacks. I definately think you will benefit from Lexapro. They will start you off at 10 mg but personally.. i would start off at only 5 mg. I am still only on 5 mg and feel great. Have not had any panic attacks lately at ALL! I have tried so many SSRI's and the side effects were miserable. Lexapro doesnt even seem like an SSri. Give it a try.
