i dunno if anyone else has had this experience,or its just the general state of my brain or what...but i feel almost mad with depression,like crazy thoughts,hard to explain,i cant get out of bed im so depressed and i havent been that bad in years,always been able to fight it.but now i get so frusrated my thoughts go beyond just cutting myself,to this horrible darkness saying,just do it,kill yourself,its so easy.but so defeatist. ive been on prozac for maybe 3months now,i stopped taking them last week,fearing they may be causing some sorta paradoxical or toxic reaction,and i felt a bit more 'normal',but im getting these crazy surges,like i say,i cant explain,i feel like im going out of my head,and i would really appreciate it if anyone else with similar experiences could help me.
im thinking of trying that cymbalta stuff,is that out in europe?

I suggest you give us more information on what dose of prozac you are on and how long have you been taking it.
The symptons that you are talking about have been associated with prozac. The reason I know this is because I had the same feeling when taking prozac. I resolved it when I stopped taking it.

My brother literally went 'crazy' from Prozac, he was on 80mg, his depression was at his worst though, and he got into drugs bad because he was at 80mg of the stuff. His psychiatrist said 'we won't go up anymore' so he switched to Zoloft.
I agree with Robert Fairburn, could you tell us what dosage of Prozac you are on?
Prozac was the first antidepressant I was put on, and it made me sick, so out of it, but it did help with my depression when I was first diagnosed in 1995. But, I was actively cutting my left wrist (not very bad, but still cutting)
It made me puffy, moon-shaped face, and I gained 70 pounds.
I didn't like it, but this is just my experience.
I wish I could say more positive things about *my* experience with Prozac, but I cannot.Hang in there and communicate with your prescribing doctor.

Prozac cause me to become manic (I have Bipolar III) so I had to quit taking it, too bad because it did work for me as far as relieving depression. I thought I read on some warning labels that some anti-depressants can make you feel suicidal. Since you said something about having "crazy" or abnormal thoughts, maybe talk to your doctor about an anti-psychotic med instead. Elle
