talking to doctor type help

Hello friends.

I mistakenly posted this in the wrong forum this morning. I have ADD to blame :)
Anyway....

I don't have much experience with p-docs since the one I am seeing now is the first I have ever seen. I have adult ADD, and am now taking dexedrine (25 mg total per day) plus effexor and lexapro.

He is very good at listening to suggestions and has increased the dexedrine from a starting dose of 10mg per day to the present dosage. The problem is that I don't feel much of anything from this dosage. When I was much younger I took ritalin for the most part at a dose of 20mg three times a day. It worked very well at the time.

I have an appt tomorrow and I would like to ask him to change from dex to this dose of ritalin. I am just afraid that he might think that I am being too pushy and might even suspect that I am abusing - which I definitely do not.

Any comments on this, as to how to go about it or whether to do so or leave things as they are?

25 mgs still is not that much, i would try a higher dose before you move to another med.
I fall asleep on 25 mgs/day and have to take at least 30 mgs/day to have benefit. 35 mgs/day is my normal dose, the PDR lists 40 mgs/day as max, but many take more than that a day.
