New and Nauseous/Lexapro advise??

Posted by koko on August 26, 2003, at 13:19:31

Hi all,
I am new to the group and in fact, just found it today. I have switched to Lexapro yesterday. I was taking Celexa. I wasn’t expecting any side effects, as I had none with Celexa. But yesterday, after my first Lexapro, I felt nauseous and just a little weird for the rest of the day. Which in turn scared me and caused an anxiety attack. (Which is why I’m taking it to begin with.) I just took another Lexapro today as I am hoping that my body will get use to it. Can anyone give me any feedback to the nausea and dreamlike, surreal feeling? How long will it last? Does it go away? Have others experienced this as well? Anything positive?
Thanks in advance for your time…

My doc said the nausea was due to lexapro's rather focused concentration on serotonin. That can be debated. I never have had nausea as a side-effect on AD's except for lexapro. You may feel weird for a while as your body switches from one drug to another. Sorry I can't predict the future. I'm not sure if there is any proof lexapro is better for anxiety. It depends upon your body. Psychopharmacology on an individual basis is hardly a science.

Sounds just like me 6 mos. ago...I started @ 5mg, had a terrible time w/se, but they went away, and I'm doing so much better. Hang in there...many people do not notice a *difference* until 6-8 weeks, I know because I'm one of *them*.

Best of luck to you!~~~8|8
