Paxil-for Depression or Anxiety

From the New York Times article,
They also said that Paxil has not proved effective against depression in children and teenagers.

For those that Paxil has been a good med, was it primarily to treat depression or for Anxiety?

I used it for several years for panic disorder. I believe it is the only SSRI officially endorsed for this. It worked amazingly, but wore out about a year ago.

I took Paxil for many years for depression before it pooped out; I was also taking Klonopin (still do) for anxiety - that combo was effective for a long time.
