unusual weight loss with effexor

Posted by racergurl74 on June 12, 2003, at 15:45:33

I just started effexor today. I have been on prozac for 5 years. I gained 60 pounds and sleep all the time. I really hope effexor will change that. What can I expect?

I took Effexor for about a month. It did kill my appetite, however it also killed my urge for just about everything else (social interaction, getting out of bed in the morning etc). Just my experience though.

I've been on Effexor for about 5 weeks. I have the same problems. Plus I am so lazy and I feel depressed on it which I didn't have before I started to take it. I will see my doc tomorrow.
Any other feedback?

Those are exactly the reasons I switched to this medication. I was already lazy and didn't want to get out of bed in the morning and had social anxiety. The prozac worked for depression but it was almost like another form of illness to be so hermit-like. The advertisements for effexor make it sound much better for energy and self motivation.
