oh and also...(Ritch if you would?)

I forget to ask.

Would you be concerned that you're dysthymia (bipolar type II really) was being managed with 300-600 mg neurontin, .5-1.0mg klonopin, 40mg Adderall, and 37.5-50mg of Effexor daily?

After a while it feels more like addiction and yes I may be more productive, but I worry about whether this is a good long term solution for anything. *I have had extensive substance abuse problems in the past*, and there's no denying I like the soothing and yet motivated *feeling* I get from this combo. As some of you old timers may have noticed I haven't been around for awhile. In part because things have been better.

What brings this into question is my girlfriend who genuinely cares for me and I care about. She see's me popping pills like Elvis, and I do still drink occassionally too. It looks really bad when you see the preocupation/addict thing going on knowing there's a history and topped with a very rare but still occassional slip with booze (not life ruining, but still present and always worrisome).

Please share your hearts my friends..

Hi Scott, it's good to hear that you've been feeling better. IMO, I wouldn't rock the boat if it is working for you. You might bring these worries up with your doctor-if you have, what do they say? I'm somewhat self-conscious about the pills around family as well. Some of them are very conservative and think I shouldn't take any meds at all (but they have forgotten such unmedicated incidents as fighting with my Dad-also bipolar when I was young and being chased with a shotgun, etc.). The biggest problem in the past was getting people to continue to take meds that were only working half-ass!
