stimulant withdrawal

Any thoughts on what one may encounter and how to navigate the course of time required to get back on track after cold turkeying 40-50mg of Adderall a day for 2 weeks?

If you find a good solution, please let me know. I have found it helpful sometimes to take a very small dose a couple of days after stopping (once you hit the depressed, exhausted stage). I get up to 30mg or so (a lot for me) and one 5mg XR capsule will get me at least functioning. Sudafed can also be helpful. Stimulant management is a real pain in the ass.

< Stimulant management is a real pain in the ass.>

I'll say! I'm in one of those periods when I think it's not worth it. Overcoming the fatigue rebound is far worse than the couple of hours of clarity. But my brain feels like a swollen cantalope when I attempt to co without.

Advice, counsel anoyone?

I am beginning to feel as though my dop neurons have died due to stim-induced neurotoxicity.

Any data out there?

No sound medical advice but my experience and a suggestion. In 1985 I was hospitalized for stim. overdose/abuse problem. I had worked my way up to 200mg. of Dexadrine/day. The old pdoc I had at the time took me off "cold turkey" with 4 or 5 days of low dose Mellerill (sp) - other than that I just had a lot of very colorful "nightmares". I know you aren't at that point (hope you never are).

Do you think Provigil and low dose Klonopin might work? Just a thought.

Wish you the best,

Geezer

Achhh! It sounds like we all play the same game, and the deck is eventually stacked against us...

Pemoline (Cyclert) is the mildest of amphetamine like meds. Gradualy transition off of the Adderall and increase the pemoline. It has a much longer half life too. Then slowly work your way off of that too if desired.
