WellbutrinSR/Lexapro

Posted by DissociativeJane on May 13, 2003, at 8:15:08

After having some difficulty with Effexor withdrawls, my doc prescribed Lexapro.
I now take Wellbutrin SR 300mg and Lexapro 10mg.
for Depression.
I must say, I think I feel ok!
I'm wondering if anyone here is on this combo?
Thank you!

I have not taken that combo but it seems like a very good one. Lexapro can cause tiredness and some degree of diminished sex drive and Wellbutrin can counter those side effect.

I take just Lexapro (20 mg) and have been doing very well on it.

From monitoring this board, I would have to say that Well/Lex is a very common combo....seems lots of people do well on it.

BEST OF LUCK, There are lots of caring people here pulling for you!!!

I'm on this combo with Provigil. I have close to no side effects outside of occasional tics. While it works well, it has not been a miracle, either. I do think it's the best combo I've ever been on and I do recommend it - hope it works for you.

I'm taking Wellbutrin and Fluoxetine and I really like this combo. Have you been helped with your derealization with this combo? Welcome to this board :)

Hi there,

I'm on a similar combination, but with a slightly different twist.

20 mg. Adderall XR 7:00 a.m.
150 mg. Wellbutrin SR 7:00 a.m.
20 mg. Adderall XR 12:00 p.m.
5 mg. Lexapro - mid-evening
5 mg. Ambien - bedtime

So far, things aren't too bad. I've definitely had some days I would term "quite good."

Good luck with your regimen! It's sounds like you've found the right combination that works for you!

Hi.

A friend of mine, who did not do well with MAOIs, went on to respond wonderfully to a combination of Wellbutrin 300mg + Lexapro 20mg.

just curious why you take provigil And wellbutrin and how much of each. When I was on wellbutrin I still was somewhat sleepy and was thinking about asking my doc about this. Anyone else on it?

Regarding your question about "derealization", I am in the learning process of the terms relating to DID so I'm not sure if I have a full understanding just yet. The Lexapro was just added to my Wellbutrin 7 days ago so I'm not sure if I'm better yet.

Derealization is a spacey unreal feeling. Mine was triggered with my first panic attack. It has begun to subside with the Wellbutrin/Fluoxetine combo.
I hope this combo. works for you. Please keep me posted.

Hi - I've been on Wellbutrin for a couple of years (400mg). I started taking Provigil about 2 weeks ago to help with excessive daytime sleepiness. I just increased to 200mg of Provigil a few days ago, so it's early to tell how it's going, but I am less sleepy.

Please let me know how it is going. I liked wellbutrin, except for the fact that i was really tired. I was hoping that possibly provigil could help with that. Thanks,

My current cocktail:

15 mg Lexapro, with dinner
200 mg Wellbutrin on waking, and 150-200 mg 7 hours later
100 or 200 mg Provigil on waking

On the Wellbutrin/Lex, which I had been on for almost a year, my mood was ok but I had a lot of cognitive dysfunction, memory dysfunction, low energy and motivation, and dissociation. The Provigil helps, but does not eliminate, the cognitive & memory dysfunction, some of the low energy, and (I suspect) has helped reduce the dissociation. It has also improved my physical endurance so exercise is not as unpleasant. I'd say the most pronounced effects are some mood brightening and much better cognition & memory.
