Lexapro..Forgetfulness...

Posted by Dazzle on May 2, 2003, at 22:37:08

I have been taking 10 mg. of Lexapro for 4 months now..I have been on numerous other antidepressants when I finally found one that worked for me! :)
My only complaint I have with Lexapro is I feel like I have short term memory loss, almost as if I'm in a dream world, someone can tell me something and within a few minutes I ask them the same question that they just answered! I feel like I'm in a fog quiet often..

I remember my mother being on antidepressants when I was younger and she drove me nuts with her "goofyness" of being forgetful, asking dumb questions..etc..Now here I am doing the exact same thing!! I now know what my mother has been feeling like all these years!!!
Does anyone else feel out of sorts on Lexapro?

I just posted something relating to this. The nutshell version is that I tend to feel much more distractable, forgetful, and "out of it" on ADs. It's like the brain has a seesaw with mood on one end and focus on the other. Stress either, and you jeapordize the whole. A gross simplification, to be sure, but it rings true to me.

Thank you for your resonse Eddie.

I just went to the doctor today and explained how the Lexapro was making me feel, he suggested I take Ginkgo Biloba and said it wouldn't hurt mixing the two.
I went off the Lexapro last week but had to resume 3 days later..For now I actually feel normal and not living in that bubble world but I KNOW within days I will feel out of it again..it's like a dream state or a intoxicating type feeling??
I guess this is just a side effect I will have to tollerate because so far it's the only real drawback I have had unlike a lot of the other antidepressants I have tried in the past.
