Effexor success with Depression and OCD

Posted by Bonte on May 2, 2003, at 17:48:08

Hey all,
I have been taking Effexor XL (modified release) 225mg for 10months. It has been excellent. I have been doing things again! Stopped living for over 3 years with major depression. S/e have been minimal, with only constipation. (Duphalac does the trick)
The suprise was though, my Obsessive Compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms have been getting better and better since I started taking it. My rituals etc. have diminished. Has anyone else found this? I know that Effexor is now proven for anxiety disorders. Anyone got any feedback? (CBT was not succesful alone for me)
I am currently on Lithium aswell, as augmentation therapy for the Effexor. Is anybody else on that combination?

Hi!

It's good to know that, since I'm new to Effexor! By the way, are you a male or female? I'm asking that because I'm still concerned about the sexual side-effects. That's why I've been so reluctant to increasing my dose.

Good luck!
Ricardo

It helped me too, though not completely. Only about 50% help compared to about 90% for prozac.
