I've gained lots of weight on SSRI's. The weight will come off, trust me. Just like anxiety and depression come back, so does normal weight. I've been lucky that I haven't gained weight or appetite on Nardil - so far at least.

I never really had depression, just social anxiety. Lately though the Nardil hasn't been as good has it has been before in dealing with it and I do not want to increase the dosage anymore.

How long have you been on Nardil? I slowly noticed my pants getting tighter and tighter and didn't weigh myself until one day I shot up 10 lbs. Now it seems impossible to lose the weight. I tried and nothing seems to happen. I have always been thin (6'2 175 lbs) before Nardil now I am almost tipping 200 lbs. I don't feel as good like this, I feel a lot different in moving around or exercising I don't move like I use to or wear the clothes I use too.

I started craving carbs like crazy, no longer eating meats or salty foods. I have no desire to even eat pizza anymore. I guess we will see if I can cope with the anxiety......

Hey Cosis,

I've been are Nardil since about 4/18(?) The only thing that's happened to my appetite is that it has decreased. I used to crave carbs simple and complex. I can now control my cravings and eat healthy like I used to. When I was depressed I would sit and eat pizza and ice cream. I've also noticed since day one on Nardil that I have increases energy and joy for life. This is probably do to the fact that it has lifted my depression.

A few questions for you. Has a pdoc diagnosed you or have you seen a therapist about your anxiety? This helped me a lot. It helped me realize some of the roots of my issues as well as dealing with them better. Did Nardil make you fatigue or weak at all? Best wishes!

Carlos

Yes I wouldn't expect anything to happen to your appetite yet, it took me about a month or so to notice the change. Mine decreased at first also. Sometimes I would forget to eat all day. I consider myself to eat healthy, healthier than most people my age. But it seems there is no weight around the weight gain for myself. I have been gaining slowly but now it's starting to bother me. Yes I have been diagnosed by a pdoc with social anxiety.

Nardil also gave me a lot of energy when it first kicked in. It only lasted about 2 weeks for me then I was back to normal. I would say about 3 times a week I get very sleepy during the middle of the day.

I wouldn't say I have felt week. The weakest is when anorgasmia hit a little after the 4th week. I went 4 months without an orgasm. It did come back slowly although I wouldn't say 100%. Sometimes I still can't get them all the time.

Nardil basically killed any mild depression I might have had even though I wouldn't consider mine that bad. The social anxiety part at first was pretty controlled. The last few weeks though I have noticed I am getting anxious again and I feel the only way to combat it would be to increase the dosage. That and the gut I am forming are to much! I am going to continue with CBT therapy though which I had some success with before meds.....
