Does Lamictal have any anti-anxiety effects?

Posted by Caleb462 on April 20, 2003, at 23:05:32

I need something else for anxiety... non-benzo cause of my doc. Lamictal sounds interesting because I also want something stimulating so I can get out and do things, and get all my shit straight. But does it also have an anxiotylic effect since it's a mood stabilizer?? I GREATLY appreciate all responses, I'm in a bind, thanks.

Anybody?? please? thanks. (nm)

When my son added lamictal to his mix of meds for several months, we saw no improvement with respect to anxiety (or any other symptoms). His pdoc thinks it did help, but we think that was because he was on vacation from school (school makes him anxious).

Of course, YMMV. Several people have posted here describing very positive results with lamictal.

I don't know what the official line is on Lamictal and anxiety, but my experience with it would suggest it doesn't do much good for anxiety. It's a great antidepressant. For me, it's been the ONLY one that has ever worked. But I still have problems with anxiety that have to be dealt with in other ways.
