Dear Lads and Ladies,
Could you please share your Zyprexa withdrawal experience.
Also, at what rate did you taper?
How long on it?If there was any problems with the withdrawal how were they overcome?

i went from 5 mg to 2.5 mg rather quickly and had no insomnia

Hi ace . nice to here you are back again
I took Zypreza for 1 year (10mg) ,but Its made me win alot of weigth . I stoped cold turkey , and nothing bad happened , only I start feeling like I was before th zyprexa ,then I changed to seroquel and no weigth gain problems .

I'm thinking about changing to Seroquel from Risperdal because of the weight gain. Have you found Seroquel to be effective? Thanks

You stopped Cold Turkey? You mean no tapering at all? And you were on 10mg? I think it's great you had no withdrawal.
by the way, did you like the zyprexa? did you only stop cause of the weight?

I stopped taking Zyprexa cold turkey, for about a week, the withdrawl was nothing excruciating,
It was just made me feel strung out, and every feeling I had was turned up a few notches.
Which is a walk in the park for any veteren withdraw -(er?)
Twas nothing compared to Paxil Effexor or Lorazepam withdrawl.I love Zyprexa I found for my head noise and anxiety though it works better if I take it at a low dose and as a p.r.n.
Higher (5-7.5) doses seemed to put me in a fog of depression.
I hate the side effects
It doesn't actually make me gain fat at that low dose, but the water retention is unreal, freakish almost, I can lean against something and leave a dent in myself for 45 minutes ( I know I counted )
Its so very sexy and good for my self esteem.

Gabbix2,Have you had your thyroid checked? My wife has the same problem with water retention on Zyprexa, but only if she isn't taking her thyroid medication. She only has hypothyroidism when she is on anti-psychotics.

Thank you so much for mentioning that. I do have thyroid medication but I've been on it for so long I'm not sure that its even working anymore.
And its quite logical that the AP's could worsen my condition if it causes hypothyroidism in your wife.
Maybe its time to up the dosage.

I tried Risperdal and It did nothing for me
In my opinion Seroquel is the best AP in the market.
Work greats , almost any side effects and is the safest of all

Yes ace , cold turkey.
I did not stoped for the weigth gain , because in that time I was doing also exercise and I dint gain too much weigth . I stopped because I wanted to try another thing to my fear (I dint know I had SP)
Its a good AP , but the best for me is Seroquel
